CHAPTER OFFICERS

 

President
Bea Nelson

The President shall be the chief executive Director for the Central Arkansas Chapter and of the Board. The President shall perform such duties as are customary for presiding Directors. This includes presiding at Chapter and Board meetings, and making all required appointments with the approval of the Board.

Beatrice Nelson is a project manager for Alltel Corporation and has 10 years of service with the company.  She has been a member of the Alltel Enterprise Program Management Office since 1999 and has successfully managed a variety of projects, from call center initiatives to wireless network quality projects.  In 2003, Beatrice served as a team member on the PMBOK® Guide 2004 Update Project (Communications Team, PMBOK® Third Edition).

Ms. Nelson has volunteered for various chapter activities, which include serving as instructor and coordinator for the chapter's PMP prep courses and serving on several Professional Development Day committees.  Beatrice has been a member of PMI and the Central Arkansas Chapter since 1999.  She obtained her PMP certification in October 2003 and was named chapter Member of the Year for 2004.

 


Vice President of Programs
Stephen Benson

The Vice President of Programs of the Central Arkansas Chapter of PMI, Inc., is responsible for the development, scheduling and coordination of programs for the chapter meetings and seminars. This includes both developing the chapter meeting agenda, coordinating program schedules, and locating speakers. Programs are aimed at assisting non-certified members of the Chapter in their efforts to attain certification as Project Management Professionals and providing opportunities for Chapter members who are PMP certified to earn Professional Development Units.

Stephen Benson, PMP, is a project manager for Verizon (formally Alltel Communications), for 11 years. He manages multiple projects from feasibility to closure. His projects range from networking configurations to customer service objectives. Stephen has been a member of the CACPMI since 2002 and received his PMP Certification on May 2003. He volunteers his time in the chapter instructing the PMP Prep course at Pulaski Tech and UALR. He graduated from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science.  

 

 
 
Vice President of Professional Development

The Vice President of Professional Development is responsible for the development of a long-range program for the professional development of the chapter membership. This includes both developing programs aimed at assisting non-certified members of the Chapter in their efforts to attain certification as Project Management Professionals and providing opportunities for Chapter members who are PMP certified to earn Professional Development Units.

 Vice President of Publicity

The Vice President of Publicity of the Central Arkansas Chapter of PMI, Inc., is responsible for directing all Chapter activities relating to the publicizing of the Chapter and of the purposes and objectives of the Chapter and of PMI to the general public.  The Vice President of Publicity assesses the sponsorship needs for planned Chapter activities and events, as well as meeting with potential sponsors, and preparing and maintaining a public relations packet for distribution to area businesses.

Vice President of Communications
Tracy Sykes

The Vice President of Communications of the Central Arkansas Chapter of PMI, Inc. directs chapter activities to publicize PMI's purposes and objectives to the chapter and to the general public via newsletters, program event flyers and new member publications. The Vice President of Communications prepares notifications and website updates to keep the membership informed about chapter business and activities, organizes events for publicity and seeks opportunities to create an awareness of the PMI and the Central Arkansas Chapter of PMI.  

 

Initially a financial software developer, Tracy has spent the last 15 years in leadership and project management roles on IT projects for the financial services industry. In recent years her focus has been lending and leasing applications for large financial institutions and automotive finance companies. A PMP since 1999, Tracy enjoys the opportunity to merge business, relationship, technical, and of course project management training, into her assignments as project manager

Vice President of Membership
Connie Curtis

The Vice President of Membership of the Central Arkansas Chapter of PMI, Inc., is responsible for maintaining the Chapter’s mailing list.  This includes compiling and maintaining a current file of PMI members and potential members, maintaining the membership drive including providing application forms and PMI information to potential members, and gathering names and data on all meeting attendees, including non-members.  He or she also assists in the preparation of the semi-annual chapter reports to PMI.  

Connie offers over 10,000 hours of project management experience during the last 11 years and over 30 years experience in Healthcare IT Management.  From 1997 to 2008, Connie served as Manager of the St. Vincent System IT Project Management Office, leading large system-wide clinical and financial projects.  During this time Connie developed project management methodologies and PM Best Practices for the Eclipsys Outsourcing Division.  Current she is engaged as a Project Manager III for the Catholic Health Initiatives Enterprise Project Management office located in St. Vincent.  Connie has been a member of CACPMI since 2002 and earned her PMP in April 2003.

 

 

Vice President of Finance

The Vice President of Finance manages all Chapter funds, including the receipt of all dues, contributions and guest payments, the payment of all Chapter bills as directed by the Board, and the accounting of all Chapter bank accounts and other financial activities. These activities include preparing an operating budget with the approval of the Board, for the planning of Chapter activities and for inclusion in the annual application to PMI for charter renewal.
