Vice President of Professional Development
The Vice President of Professional Development is responsible for the development of a long-range program for the professional development of the chapter membership. This includes both developing programs aimed at assisting non-certified members of the Chapter in their efforts to attain certification as Project Management Professionals and providing opportunities for Chapter members who are PMP certified to earn Professional Development Units.Don O’Donnell, PMP has been an active PMI member since 1999 and a member of the PMI Central Arkansas Chapter since 2010. Currently, Don is an IT Program Manager at Acxiom Corporation, with over 20 years of experience managing multi-million dollar initiatives for companies within many industries including insurance, retail, finance, government, energy, aerospace, health care, telecommunications, and software. Don was previously an active member of the PMI Dallas Chapter, having participated as both an attendee and volunteer in many professional development offerings at the chapter level. He was also an active member of the PMI Oklahoma City Chapter, volunteering at their Fall PM conference. Additionally, Don is the Head Coordinator and co-developer of the PMP study group program at Acxiom, which conducts a 12-week PMP prep class. Their first class in the Spring/Summer 2011, seven of the eight students passed the PMP/CAPM exam. Their second class (Fall 2011) is currently in progress. Don holds a Bachelor of Arts, Mathematics, & Physics from Simpson College and a Masters of Business Administration from Drake University, and earned his PMP certification in 2002. Don has a passion for mentoring project managers and for promoting their professional development through PMI and other conduits.
